The Children of Whitney is a moving series of sculptures at Whitney Plantation, created by the masterful artist, Woodrow Nash. This booklet contains photographs of some of Nash's statues along with corresponding quotes from people who lived through slavery as children in Southern Louisiana. These interviews were collected in the early 1940s by writers and folklorists employed by the Federal Writer's Project, part of The New Deal's Work Projects Administration (WPA).
