Ankara Hand Fan

Beautiful hand-held fan made from colorful Ankara fabric with genuine leather handle. Fits into your purse as it folds into approximately 12”x 2.5”. Diameter when open is approximately 12”x 15” Ideal for home décor or cooling yourself off, perfect for a gift and wedding favors. 

Ankara print fabrics are made through a traditional wax-resist dyeing technique called batik. In this technique, methods are used to “resist” the dye from reaching all the cloth, thereby creating a pattern. 

Handmade in Ghana by woman artisans of Afrodesiac Worldwide, a strong advocate for the preservation of the textile industry in Africa. They believe strongly in helping to educate consumers on purchasing authentically made apparel and accessories to preserve both the industry and the culture.

Founder of Afrodesiac, Chiedza Makonnen, also serves as founder and executive director of The Revolutionary Underground Foundation, mentoring and providing educational scholarships to over a hundred girls in Ghana and fighting for the rights of victims of sexual and physical abuse.
