"I create as an expression of soulful vision and ancestral reverence.

For years, I’ve *heard* an admonishing refrain: “Until Shreveport does right by Lead Belly...!”

 

I gratefully help carry the charge of commemorating Huddie Ledbetter (1888-1949), Giant of Folk Music & Grandfather of the Blues. Lead Belly’s odyssey catapulted him from area cotton plantation, to Shreveport’s infamous Bottoms, throughout incarceration, onto national stages. The illuminated votive candle invokes remembrance of the iconic King of 12-String Guitar. A red mojo bag conjures Black Southern ingenuity and power to create change with intention! Homage to North Louisiana’s Own - The Legendary Lead Belly."
